Will post more soon!

More Fish More! It's good to see more 1/32 scale figures actually converted and painted by the collectors.

Fish I don't know how you got the coats longer and with a natural looking flow to them . They are very nicely done.

Fish, I really admire your work. Please give us begining converters the benefit of your expertise and experience. I've tried my hand at a few primitive conversions and I like the results but some tips on tools, techniques and parts would be helpful.
I have found that the recast Timpo prussians in dark blue work well for me. The uniform is generic enough to be applicable to many armies and the plastic is soft enough to easily cut and shape. Also there is no blocking and a lot of the arms are sculpted away from the body making their removal easy without losing the detail on the figure.
Patiently waiting.

Thanks guys! I will try and post a few short how to type threds and try and help new guys to get started into converting but I have a couple of projects I want to get finished first.
Take in mind that I,m no expert on any of this stuff and there maybe better ways of going about things that might work better but I,m willing to try and get some more guys started into converting figures and I will show how I go about doing what I do.
I will try and stick to Hat figures since this is a Hat Blog or at least try and throw in some hat parts but in my conversion style anything goes for parts and just because they are from a different company, color, era in time or even a different scale at times with a good eye and imagination you can make them work.

I will try and do a couple of simple conversions for guys who have never done any conversions and may be start with a simple head swop and show a couple of ways to do head swops and simple pins.
And then work up to arms and harder stuff from there and how to get started useing 2 part putty.
By the way that,s how I extended the greatcoats on Russians in the picture. There are a few different tools that can be used to work the putty and water and kneading and even how you mix the putty or how long you let the putty set can all be factors in the use of putty.
I will try and explain this in future posts and answer questions and maybe we can get a few others to also share what they have learned over the years and we all can share and learn from each other.
I also hope to learn from this also, like said I,m no expert on any of this and shareing our work with each other will make us all better at this.
I,ll try and snap some pictures of my next conversion projects in stages as I go along and try and explain my thinking as I go along.
May be I,ll even try and dig out my Timpo prussians and see what can be done with them???
I,m not at all crazy about the Timpo figures though so I might end up cutting most of the detail and parts from them.
The only Timpo napoleonic set I liked was the highlander set.
I used the Prussian Hussar bodies and cut the heads off and replaced them with Hat prussian heads and they looked much better, I also mounted them on Italeri Hussar horses and now they look great.
Nice simple conversion with great results.

Hey Fish

bravo , excellent job - we look to you as our Conversion Ghuru! keep the inspiration coming and it will encourage others especially if you illustrate how you do the work - headswaps are the best starting place for simple but effective conversions
