Future?

Hatblogger,

Everyone here is grateful for the large number of sets that where released over the last few years.
I know plans for 54mm are "on hold" for the moment, but at a certain moment those unsold sets out there will be bought sooner or later.
So I suppose you have some ideas what to do afterwards.

I have posted some alternative ideas on the forum.
Would like to add one more.
Have seen in a smaller scale set of another manufacturer they added metal figures or parts, to widen the poses in the set. For Hät : instead of making a separate command set, why not add a lead officer /flag bearer to a set(flag itselve printed). or lead heads, ...a lead canon...
Other ideas out there?

Dirk

Dirk, Please make sure the Prussian 7 years War command is released and the Russian 1812 Command. I want the Prussians to complete my unit and I won't buy the Russians existing w/o a command set. Thanks!

Scott, I'm only a blogger, have no influence on releases of Hät.

I'm hoping also the Prussian command will come soon, and hope Hät will some day make other 7YW amries or cavalry/artillery.

I try to give long term ideas for Hät to make profitable sets, and for us buyers it would be sets we like.

What you fail to realize is the the Victrix white metal (not lead) command figures have not been an overwhelming success due to excessive pricing and comparative limited market appeal accordingly.

Furthermore, adding a standard bearer to every set would produce an excess of useless figures and thereby decrease overall market appeal, resulting in reduced sales and expediting the demise of 1/32 scale ranges and associated releases from HaT.

Finally, Dirk, this type of appeal is best sent via e-mail directly to HaT instead of posting it publicly and casting shadows of doom and rumors of uncertainty. It does not facilitate growth nor encourage interest in either this blog nor HaT's 1/32 scale range.

Most Sincerely,

George

I'm not interested in lead or metal anything. Be patient, do not expect or demand that every last set that you personnally desire be made immediately. Or that one set be the end all be all set that covers everything at once. The 1/72 line was built one set at a time. Have a little faith and buy what you want from who you want to and continue with making suggestions to HaT. They've listened pretty well so far.

Dirk, your idea has much merit.

The use of Metal figures and or parts ( from cheaper moulds ), to complete a range, to fill gaps, and to provide variation, is a better solution than making an expensive low sales volume set, or not making anything.

Cheers,

Stan.

Stan,

The problem is that you and Dirk are wanting a re-invention of the wheel.

Under Multi-Pose posting, you will find in and amongst the 45 posts, lists of numerous manufacturers that ALREADY produce all the parts ya'll are desiring HaT to make. Almost every part you'd want is metal is available from one or all of the following:

Alexander's Toy Soldiers
www.ats-uk.net - they are beautifully sculpted and cast.

Irregular Miniatures
www.irregularminiatures.co.uk

All the King's Men Toy Soldiers
www.allthekingsmentoysoldiers.com

Elite Miniatures
www.eliteminiatures.co.uk

Dorset Soldiers
www.dorsetsoldiers.com

In plastic/hard resin from
Helmet Soldiers
www.helmetsoldiers.co.uk
Though their customer service & communication is poor at best.

In high quality polystyrene from
Historex Agents www.historexagents.com
with all the parts pictured on Historex NCO
historex.com/?t=3

Finally there is HR Products
www.hrprod.com
(under Equipment, Small Arms)

With all of the above options and with the heads on the current HaT 1/32 Napoleonic, ACW and SYW miniatures, the conversion possibilities are nigh limitless!

George

If HaT design and make the figures. Then they will be the same style, and size as their plastic sets.
If HaT design and make the spare parts, they will be sure to fit the existing HaT figures.

Cheers,

Stan.

Hi -I dont agree with your comment about Helmet Soldiers - I have been ordering spare parts for the last 2 months regularly and the response/delivery is perfect - really dont know why you make comments that harm the hobby.
I have just converted 29 French Infantry/ImpGuard Grenadiers into Chasseurs of the Guard with a simple headswap using a Helmet Soldiers Horse Grenadier head and removing the square cuff flaps and a good paint job. The heads are great to undertake simple conversions on hat figures.

i'd be grateful if you could explain the critical comment regarding HELMET Soldiers, thanks to helmet2008 for your support.

Thank you Dirk. I didn't know if you are connected to HaT.

George,

Thanks very much for your second response. Always nice to learn from the experience of others.

Concerning your first answer about sending ideas directly to Hät : I think you 'll prefer writing on this blog about a bad idea rather than having to make comments about a bad set.

One of the reasons Hät made this blog is to get information and new ideas. I was hoping by posting ideas others will do also, discous them so Hät would have positive input.

Cheers
Dirk

Helmet2008/9th, if you had a different experience, then good for you and glad you did!

Helmet2008/9th & Eric1(Helmet Soldiers owner):

My remarks were quite clear and still stand due to repeated experiential basis. Were this not the case, it would not have been stated as such. Had Helmet done something wrong or underhanded (THEY DID NOT), I would have stated it, but they haven't. They are guilty only of very poor communication (customer service) resulting in my taking hundreds of dollars of business to other companies. If there were any misdealings, they would not have been included with the reputable manufacturers listed above.

Nothing was said about misconduct, nor was anything negative said with regards to their product. In fact, failing to illicit a response from Helmet, I obtained some items produced by them from a friend (who has a bits-box to be envied) and thought they were outstanding! They weren't brittle or soft but were just right, with good detail and were very nice to work with with regards to cutting, carving, crimping, gluing, and modifying. Simply put: superb!

George thanks for the links.
I have had good service from the Helmet site.
I just brought my 1st metal(white).
I needed Austrians to vs Fredricks Prussians. At least to copy for a conversion.

Hi - have a look at the French Infantry conversions on the blog off Helmet Soldiers site - fantastic job and great inspiration - I keep buying helmet spares and kits as they are unique and the chap that runs it - Eric Kemp is a real gentleman and a great modeller - I also buy many hat kits 1/32nd plus Airfix, Italeri etc,, we need to keep supporting the few manufacturers out there and encourage other modellers/painters to do the same otherwise we will return to the 1980,s with nowt much available!!
