As previously mentioned, we are now getting more 1/32 pics posted on ETS, and more 1/32 painters are coming out of the woodwork. Most of the 1/32 painters appear to be 1/32 only, but there are some who collect and paint both 1/72 and 1/32.
One thing for sure, because 1/32 figures are bigger they are also more visually stunning when painted. On November 4th, we have three 1/32 contributions, all of the 7YW Prussian Infantry, including a rare glossy style by Dirk Donvil.
The next set sculpted will be 7YW Austrians.

still good news to 1 / 32 we poor parents figurines.
I repeat myself one day a series of dead and wounded several possible nations already mixed a post with a similar request by another collector that I welcome
Glad to hear about the Austrians.......begs the question which Austrians? Hungarians.
7YW Austrians next, sounds good, more action in the action set, please.
Is it too late to change the make-up of the 7YW Prussian action set to give duplicated advancing pose instead of one of the attention poses, Just asking :)
Then can you start on the Nap British. :):)

7YW Austrian infantry should include pandours (grenz infantry) as they were the Austrain adavantage against the Prussians.
Is 7YW cavalry and artillery also in the planning.
@all, I don't have a lot of information on the makeup of the sets yet. There is some 7YW cavalry and artillery coming.
German, Hungarian and grenzers infantry pls. Dragoons, hussars and cuirassieurs are pretty interchangeable between Prussians/Austrians and any number of smaller german states. Flugelmitze hussars make good stand-ins for early Napoleonic wars.

Just to throw a wild ball - ever thought os some ACW stuff!
cheers

Agree with Alex it would be great to get some NEW ACW in 1/32 scale. Loads of guys looking for them as they haven't been done since Accurate/Imex did them quite a few years ago.
Especially the 'Left Shoulder shift' advancing pose. I think that is the correct term, advancing with the rifle on the shoulder and being held by the other hand. It is seen a lot on the 'Gettysburg' and 'Gods and Generals' movies by the re-inactors.
Cavalry and dismounted Cavalry are also a big interest for collectors.
I think there is also some interest on the HaT Forum for this period.
Dave M
Conte, TSSD and Cunnyngham all have released ACW infantry since the Accurate sets. TSSD has also done cavalry and some artillery figures. AIP released a heavy artillery set. I think Cunnyngham's Union infantry just came out at OTSN.
Hope that helps.
They are all 1/30 scale 60mm or taller,so don't fit in with any 54mm figures. They are not 1/32 scale and are not easy to find outside of the U.S.. It is a popular period in Europe.
I forgot AIP had some sets, varying scale though, some are useful.
We are all hoping for more realistic poses with accurate equipment and a generic look, all those you mention only make character figures. The way that HaT producies three sets together would really fit the ACW Period and it would then be possible to do some massed battles with a good scale 'look'. No-one has yet produced a set of Union Infantry in the most common uniform, sack coat and kepi, a couple have been done in the Accurate/Imex sets, but with the wrong equipment.
No decent cavalry have been done in this scale, the Italeri Confederate set had some nice horses but all the figures are wearing different uniforms and not really suitable as Union.
I think there is enough Artillery between Imex and AIP.
Cunnyinghams' Union Infantry aren't out until next year, however as I said they are 1/30 scale so of no interest to many collectors.

I think HaT ACW sets would sell very well. If any collectors are like me they will buy new figure sets just for a wider diversity of figure pose etc. And well to collect! And as you say 1:32 not 1:30.
ACW = Done and Dull
Ditto Anth
Too much undone in other periods and plenty available both from past or more recent production. Scale variations of a couple of millimetres certainly has never been a concern of mine so I agree that the recent ACW stuff (Conte,TSSD, AIP etc) all work. I don't need everyone to be of the same height and dimensions.
Several years ago I did an assessment of my union forces and found over twenty different standing firing figures. This would have been before the most recent stuff.
I think this thread started with an announcement of 7YW Austrians as next to be sculpted. This is great: a genuinely new area with plenty of scope for expansion.
thanks

Well I still think it would be a commercial success to have a couple of acw sets oput: marching actiona and command with head swaps.
Agree with the anonymous poster above, how about adding a name at the end.
With the plug-in head concept they could be Union or Confederate.
Anth and Neil A, I don't think you should assume that all collectors are oldtimers like yourselves:) that have been collecting for years, there are loads of newer guys out there and they have to be looked after as customeres as well. If this hobby is to expand then the customer base has to expand as well.
Yes, this thread started with an announcement about 7YW Austrians, but the Blog format has some issues that mean that as a conversation expands other factors come in to play. If it was a Forum style then requests for ACW would be in that thread. So we will just have to put up with some posts going off subject from time to time.

Thanks Dave. The questions here are generally about "what does someone want?'. Certainly many put forward their view based on what they would like to see occur: I think that's the point. I have put a couple of views forward in terms of what i would want, or not want. The hobby is diverse.
In marketing terms I see myself as quite easy to please. I don't need to have figures from narrow periods (or sub sets of same), of a specific height only, in action poses only, with both feet on the ground, moulded in a particular plastic, of a particular colour only, or to any other degree of specificity. Nor do I count buttons up to a point.
Personally I collect plastic toy soldiers - that for me is something between 50 and 60 mil. I will buy whatever is on the market, of any style or type, of any era, within that range. I buy multiple sets of most. Obviously i have preferred eras like anyone else. What will affect my buying is whether I am already up to my ears in a particular era or troop type. I'd buy some but i wouldn't buy the ten to twenty boxes, or more, that I may for other newer areas other sets. I have no doubt that there are other perspectives and i am sure that Hat is also interested in those views. However I am a part of the market.
In terms of the ACW I believe that, through AIP, Conte, TSSD ect, there is something to be gotten on with by that new person to the hobby whom you reference, and who may be interested in ACW, particularly the younger one. Note that I believe that even BMC have an important role in this regard.
Thanks for the info on how a blog should work - I expressed no concern about the thread's direction, if I had I would not have responded to its direction . I simply responded to the initial post because I was posting anyway. I actually buy HAT sets and am pleased with the directions HAT is taking.
Thanks
Neil A
NeilA,
Thanks for that, the questions seem more narrow than you mention, not what we want but what do we want in a certain narrow band of a period. Maybe the bigger question should be asked here ,I have seen on the forum that a 1/32 scale question has 1/72 scale guys putting in their view, why? At least if it was asked here then the responses would be 1/32 related.
I don't agree that the newer(doesn't mean younger) collectors are catered for ,by the questions asked on the TMP Forum and the limited availability of the types you mention. In 1/32 scale only HaT and Italeri are available 'over the counter' in Hobby stores in Europe. So with offering a more diverse range HaT would benefit.
Keep posting it's good to discuss these things and get your opinion across. I actually was hoping this Blog would have a lot more in the way of discussion.
Regards,
Dave M
