I've decided to start a new post on this. The work up of the Austrians have just been completed. The 3 sets are:
1) Infantry marching - 6 figures per sprue.
2) Infantry action - 6 figures per sprue.
The above will have options to allow helmeted figures, and figures with shakos and grenadier caps, just don't ask me how!
3) Command - The make up of the command set will be the same as the Russian set: NCO X 2, standard bearer, drummer, foot officer and mounted officer.
Looking ahead, shall these figures be made in white, which is easy to dirty, difficult to make out detail, but is the color of the Austrian uniform? Or should they be made in beige to match the Italeri set, or just be made off white (such as white with a handful of beige thrown in)?
Next up will be Spanish with more interesting options as they have regular infantry, light infantry, grenadiers and command. Pretty sure that Spanish infantry have not been made recently, but did the Spanish producers ever make any?

but good news photos strongly Austrian infantry
I don't care what color they are made as i prime all my figs black so they can be made hot pink if you wish :)
Rob C,
Colour Austrians light grey Spanish beige.
The options to allow helmeted figures, and figures with shakos and grenadier caps this is fantastic and even better with the Spainish.
But really just a device that makes me have to buy many more of the same box to make all the variations that I will want....yeah nice one Hat!
Hatman if you want I can photo the Reamsa Spainsh and email them to you @ Hatpics?
Sure, please send them to the picture e-mail address, thanks!
You may make more money if you sell them in separate boxes so we have to buy more :-)
Or mix up the marching and action into two boxes, sets i and 2, and people who only want marching have to buy twice as many boxes :-)

Hatblogger,
Reamsa of Spain made a set of Spanish Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery in the 1960's , re-issued in the 1990's.
However all the infantry were dressed in different uniforms, 10 poses in 10 uniforms. The Cavalry were 4 poses in 4 different uniforms. The Artillery had 4 poses one was a woman 'Augustina of Aragon' (think Sophia Loren from the movie) and one was the standard bearer from the infantry set re-armed.
So it was not possible to make up units of the same regiment in diferent poses. They did the same for the French Infantry and Cavalry, no artillery for the them.
Currently no one makes 1/32 scale Spanish Infantry.
My choice for the Austrian color would be White, as many collectors moaned when Italeri made them in Cream color. This color would be particularly of interest to the U.S. market as traditionally they do not paint their figures, so potentially more sales there, the biggest market place.

Photos in post.
Make them in white or off white. The people who don't paint will prefer it and the people who paint won't mind. Most of Italeri's sets are tan.
Maybe when these are available the retailers who compose playsets will stop using white AWI British as Austrians.
Great to hear Austians are upcoming...BUT...personally I am desperate for all things British. The 1:32 is very poorly manned when it comes to British infantry let alone cavaltry and artillery. Ok so we do have the Victrix set...
I intend to wargame in 1:32 so I am looking to get all the basic stuff for the main powers of the nappy age.
Also I would really love to see sets of commnaders - mounted generals for each nation - its a must and would be very popular I would have thought?
cheers
Alex
German Austrians look nice but please make Hungarians with a few extra heads for Grenadiers and Grenzers.
And if we are asking for things, I would ask for French line in overcoats to go with the HAT French elites in overcoats
But all of this after the recently sculpted French line are released.

The question about the colour of the plastic makes me think about the old Timpo napoleonics.
The white plastic figures have become fragile, breaking very easy. I don't know if it is the colouring of the plastic that makes these figures fragile, but if so, something to take into account.
A very light gray or offwhite would work nicely IMHO. Excited at the prospects of seeing these.

Please go with an off white color for these; that way they can basically go with the Italeri sets, without being as dark as they are (white uniforms darken when dirty at diferent rates anyway) and you will be able to see the details better than in pure white sets.
Dirk,
Regarding the old Timpo Napoleonics, it wasn't the color that made them brittle it was the make up of the plastic then , it included chalk apparently, which made it easier to hold the paint as the figures were originally offered factory painted and later as 'Action Packs' for the collector to paint themselves. The re-issues made by Toyway were quite fexible PVC type plastic, but of course not made anymore.

Also prime and paint so color is no issue to me though a light whitish/grey is what I prime with.
