Here are some of my Prussian figures throw together into mini dioramas. They are mostly Hat Prussians with a few others thrown in also including a few metal figures and lots of conversions.
I will show some of the conversions in a future post and talk about what I did to them but this post is to show how effective conversions can be to spice up a diorama and add more life and action to them as opposed to just a few factory poses.
In larger dioramas you can get away more with mixing various figures with scales that might be a bit off from each other or have a different painting style to them and the more figures and different poses you can mix in the more you have to see in the diorama in my opinion.
Here are the photos, click to enlarge. I hope you enjoy them.

Dear Fish,
what did you use for your Prussian Guns, French Line and Guard Lancers?
Thanks

Fish, always great to see your stuff. Keep the pix coming as I'm sure I'm not the only one to learn and be inspired b y your stuff.
Thanks guys! The cannons are Armies in plastic french guns. The Cavalry figures are Metal figures from Britains, Collectors Show Case, And Some Del Prado Metal figures That I converted and repainted a bit. Metal figures can be converted the same way as plastic ones, there just much harder to cut and you,ll need a saw instead of a razor.
I,ll try and post some rough stage photos of some of the many Hat conversions mixed in the photos and try and explain how I did them.
There are a few metal castings mixed in with the Prussians Figures and a bunch of the landwher figures are plastic Conte WWII G.I. converted into Landwher with various parts and putty.
These Photos should show how Hat figures can be mixed with various other figures both metal and plastic and how parts can be mixed from Hat and other makers in conversion work to open up many more possible conversions.
I hope Hat continues to make these great figures in 1/32 scale and the wait won,t be long before we see more!

Timothy,
Who made the Polish Guard Lancers?
I don't keep up with the pre-painted ranges.
George
Those are Collectors Show Case factory painted metal and converted Del Prado metal Figures. The Guy with holding his lance straight up is the factory pose and the rest were converted from that one pose.
Here is a link with a bit more detail and a few more photos.
Collectors Show case make some really nice cavalry figures but they are not cheap! We need some GOOD 1/32 scale cavalry, They need to be on the larger size for heavy cavalry which were big men on big horses not the tiny 1/35 guys a call to arms gave us.

An impressive diarama. I would be inetrested in hearing about how you do the settings for these scenarios. The foliage and terrain settings look very realistic
Thanks Paul,I make most of my sencic pieces from scratch. Foam, wood, twigs, dried flower type stuff, moss, stuff I find in the woods ect.
The grass mat is craft fur sold by the yard that I spray painted with various coats of paint working dark to light. I also have a couple of green grass mats I,ve made also but I like the dead dry grass look better.
The large trees are made from branches laying around my yard, just drill holes into the branch and add in bits of dried flowers stems the look like branches and leaves.
These can be spray painted different colors, greens for summer, reds, orange, yellows for fall.
One of the trees in the back ground I actually sculpted from clay around a plastic and wire fake plant that I think came out really cool!
I just stick them into wall insulation foam shaped into little mounds, paint them up and flock them.
I also like to stick various dried flowers into these flocked foam mounds to look like bushes and grass.
That wall insulation is great for making scratch buildings also.
I,ll try and post some scenic how to type things in the future over here but if your interested in this type of stuff go over to the TreeFrog treasures forum and search for me over there under members click on my profile and search for threads started by me(fishead member name)and you,ll find a bunch of stuff and more how to type posts on converting and scratch building. You can also see some of the buildings and other scratch builds and a lot more of my collection of figures in various mini dioramas.
Thanks again for the kind words!
