Its been quiet on here, whats everyone up to? Anyone have any new subjects to post? I,ve been busy finishing up my Russians in greatcoats conversions, there a mix of Hat french in greatcoats and mixed Conte figures with Black cat heads and back packs from the HAT Russian figures. the greatcoats are made from 2 part putty.
The loose back packs that Hat does are great for conversion work on other figures. The packs along with some styrene plastic strips for straps and you can add packs onto other figures without packs, They can be used on say something like old Timpo Prussians that came without packs and the poorly sculpted Timpo heads can also be cut off and replaced with better heads from the HAT prussian set.
I,m working on doing some more of the Timpo Prussian hussars, cutting off there heads and replacing them with heads from the HAT Prussian set. They look much better like this with the new heads and better horses they look pretty good when painted up.
Maybe some day HAT will release there own set of Prussian Hussars????
Here are a few pics of the Russians I have done so far. Lets see some of you other guys post some of your work also!

I like the diorama. Your Cossack from scratch is very good. I have done some Russian Cavalry from Helmet stuff.Great conversions from french long coat.
I'll put up some stuff soon.

Another action packed encounter you have created here, Fish. You manage to get fear and confusion on the face of the Russians faced with a cavalry attack. I notice you painted the Russian flag - or it looks as if you have. Is that something you normally do, rather than print off a version from one of the web-sites with Napoleonic flags? I tend to do both. I must say it is fun to paint your own. But some of the more complicated flags with insgnia on them or detailed checkered patterns like the Bavarian flags are more of a challenge to paint. I notice that HAT produce flag holders that sometimes just have the pole without the flag - whereas others like the forthcoming Bavarian infantry include a sculpted plastic flag as well - which looks as though it is top heavy. I think my preference even if you paint your own flags is to do it on paper first where you can paint it flat - then glue it on to the flagstaff when you've finished. Do you have any views on this?
Thanks Paul! The flag is metal and the detail on it is raised and molded into the flag, I didn,t free hand it on but I just painted the raised detail that was on the flag already.
It came from a Blackcat miniatures metal kit. Its kinda top heavy but I have a pretty big base on the figures and I glued them to a metal washer so it has no problem standing.
These matal washer are great for helping top heavy figures stand better.
Yes I do print out flags also I,m not that great at free hand painting detailed flags.
Thanks again!
