1st release review - Avant Garde

What was HaT thinking??
The Brunswick were a totally new subject to me. They also stood in for Oldenburg fusiliers,Swedes and I did some as Austrian Territorial Reserves..
I like the back of the box better than todays boxes. The front art work is now much better. I still would like a commander for this set. The price on that box is $19.95 Aust . The US dollar was much stronger then. What year did this box come out ? I pay less today . Yeah was Peter Nathan ripping me off ..LOL
What where your thoughts when you saw this release?

They were my first-ever box of
54mm "soft" plastic miniatures.
Bought them for about $5.00 US.
Though comparatively crude to the likes of Historex and other metal miniature makes, they were great in their simplicity!

Lacking straps and packs, they lent themselves to a variety of uses (as has been stated) and then some. I've used their heads to make Austrian artillerymen! They have a number of uses in other armies as well - if not in while, at least in "parts". ;-)

Though, I do wish they had released line, lights, guards, cav, and artillery gunners (especially in similar size)!

I, for one, am glad they are on the market! Especially due to their myriad of uses (unlike most of the other German stuff!).

Thanks HaT!

It is with these figures i started to think about wargaming in /132, and making an Austrian army (as jâger an landwehr for 1809 battles). Later on I used a lot of these figures to make my Swedish Finnish wargame army, so bought a lot of them. This army wa also my first ETS contribution.
