The birth of these Elephants

I remember that the HaT War Elephants were up on the list to be released for over 3 years.
Nothing for 3 years was produced. Then all the Punic war sets followed closely by the Napoleonics.
I would like to know the back story on why the Elephants took so long to hit the shops?
With the cost of Plastic these days is there any likely-hood of a re run?

I was wondering if it had something to do with the gestation period of elephants being 22 months as opposed to the human 9. It would take a lot of time to come up with all those elephants at that rate...

I remember that at one time Hat's chief identity was "the guys working on the elephant".

A lot of tinkering was going on. The elephant was too big and should have been made in 2 halves.

As one piece, there was a cooling problem. In a large piece like this, the outside can cool long before the inside and this can cause sinkholes.

I remeber you writing that was a problem with horse and the cooling problem. Then I though how did you do the elephant-also all the Punic war horses were ok! Thanks for the info.
